What I really love about Officeworks is the team – working for them, with them or leading them. It’s just more enjoyable having shared success.

My best memory across the past 14 years is probably moving to Albany to run the store there – it was such a great experience. Living in a country town, running my first store, and getting Store of the Year WA was fantastic. I even proposed to my wife while I was down there, so a lot of great memories!

What’s changed over the years? When I started, we were Coles-owned so a lot has changed. No more tech works, furniture works – I remember when we started selling digital cameras next to palm pilots. There was the move to everyday low prices, uniform changes, store layout changes, the growth of online, and leadership changes. At the moment I can see a lot of change happening in the social responsibility space, and a greater focus on our impact in the communities we work and live in.

Some of the highlights of my Officeworks career has been the opportunity to learn from leaders in the business, complete leadership programs, becoming a leader within the business, and supporting others to become leaders, and I’m now really enjoying the move to the Business Team. I’ve also had the pleasure of being involved in community programs like Clontarf, Restoring Australia and the Back to School Appeal. I’m thankful for the connections I’ve made, both personally and professionally.
