This limited edition, Graf von Faber-Castell Pen of the Year (2022) Fountain Pen is a one in 375, collector's item inspired by the Aztecs and their culture, aesthetics and religious rituals. The body of the pen is adorned with stacked decorative skulls, symbolic of health and excess, while rare, turquoise gemstone discs with carvings of Aztec deities sit at the barrel end piece and cap top, as emblems of power and honour.
- Plunger-type Fountain pen with handmade 18-carat gold nib (ruthenium-coated, magnum-sized) available by default in Medium Nib; the following nib widths; F (fine), B (broad) and BB (extra broad), are only able to be requested by contacting the Customer Service team when ordering; default nib size is Medium.
- It features a charcoal-grey barrel with DLC (diamond-like carbon) coating, inspired by the wall of skulls at Temple Mayor.
- Revered by the Aztecs as one of their most precious treasures, a turquoise gemstone disc is positioned at the pen's end piece with a carving of Mictlāntēcutli (The God of the Dead).
- The grooved cap bears resemblance to the prickly pear cactus and is crowned with a second turquoise gemstone; etched into the stone is the eagle-like god, Huītzilōpōchtli, who perched upon a cactus while devouring a snake after leading his people to the promised land.
- The grip-zone is made from obsidian, a volcanic glass material used by the Aztecs for swords, spearheads and arrowheads.
- The barrel end has a window that allows you to monitor ink levels.
- It comes delivered in a black, highly polished wooden box (including brochure and certificate of authenticity), with an additional insert that offers space for six more writing instruments.
