What You’ll Need

How to Use a Cricut to Create a Personalised Water Bottle

First, use the Cricut Design Space app to create the template for this Cricut project.

Step 1:  First of all, open the Cricut Design Space app on your computer or tablet and choose our design or upload your own.

The Cricut machine cuts out the vinyl to create the water bottle label.

Step 2: Place your Smart Vinyl in the machine and follow the prompts in the Cricut Design Space app to cut your design using the Cricut Explore 3. If you’re following our design, you’ll cut the white vinyl first, then the orange and finally the purple.

Step 3: Now it’s time to start weeding, which is another word for peeling the excess vinyl away from the design. Use the weeding tool from the basic tool set to remove any excess vinyl that’s proving difficult.

Step 4: White is the base colour for this label, so place that in front of you. The next colour is orange, so start to peel away its backing from the bottom edge – only about a centimetre to start. Stick down the bottom edge then, bit by bit, continue to remove the backing ensuring the orange part of the decal is always sitting in the right place.

Step 5: Repeat Step 4, only this time add the purple layer of the decal.

Apply the Cricut decal to the water bottle and remove air bubbles with the scraper.

Step 6: Once you’ve placed all the layers down and the design is complete, place the transfer tape over it. Carefully peel away the remaining vinyl backing.

Step 7: Lie the water bottle down flat and carefully place the design where it should go.

Step 8: Use the scraper tool to remove any air bubbles.

The final step for this Cricut project is removing the transfer tape.

Step 9: Peel the transfer tape away and – voila! – you’ve created a personalised water bottle to gift to your child’s teacher.

Cricut Idea #2: A Personalised Pencil Case

Create a personalised pencil case for your childs’ teacher with this simple iron-on Cricut project.

If there’s anything a teacher needs, it’s a good supply of pens and pencils. They can keep them all together in this excellent pencil case that will never get misplaced on someone else’s desk.

How to Use a Cricut to Create a Personalised Pencil Case

The Cricut Explore machine can create iron-on decals for your Cricut projects.

Step 1:  Open the Cricut Design Space app on your computer or tablet and choose our design or upload your own. Be sure to mirror your design before cutting the Smart Iron-On.

The Cricut machine will cut the Smart Iron-On product for your pencil case Cricut design.

Step 2: Place your Smart Iron-On in the machine, shiny liner side down. Follow the prompts in the Cricut Design Space app to cut your design using the Cricut Explore 3.

Use the Cricut weeding tool to remove the excess iron-on material from the design.

Step 3: Peel away the excess vinyl from the shiny liner, using the weeding tool to get rid of any finer pieces. Take care: you don’t want to rip your design.

For this Cricut project, you need an EasyPress Mini to affix the decal to the case.

Step 4: Lie the pencil case on its side.

Step 5: Place the design where it looks best, shiny liner side up.

Step 6: Use the Cricut Heat Guide to select the correct temperature and timing.

Step 7: Using the EasyPress Mini, thoroughly press the design onto the pencil case. If the design of the case allows, press from the inside as well.

Step 8: When the liner is cool to touch, slowly peel it away. And there you go, a pencil case any teacher would be proud to carry to class!
