Ever wondered how to set up a digital wallet on your phone? Or are you interested in buying a gaming PC but you’re not sure where to start? Here, Geeks2U IT technician Eugene Quah shares tech tips to help make your life a little easier.
How Do I Set Up a Digital Wallet to Make Contactless Payments?
The easiest and most secure way of setting up a digital wallet is to use the inbuilt digital wallet on your mobile phone. Apple users can use Apple Pay, while Android users are able to use Google Pay. These apps can authenticate directly with your bank to ensure the correct security measures are in place when adding your physical credit or debit cards to your digital wallet.
How Do I Transfer Photos from My Phone to a Laptop?
Use a USB cable to connect the phone to your laptop. Once connected, simply select and copy the photos from the phone to the laptop via the laptop file manager, which should automatically open the moment your phone is connected. Alternatively, your phone might have an app like Google Photos or Apple’s Photos that can wirelessly upload images to your computer.

How Does Bluetooth Work?
Bluetooth is a short-range method of connecting devices together using radio waves instead of a cable. To connect them, firstly, both devices need to be Bluetooth-enabled and within approximately 10 metres of each other. Then, simply put each device into ‘pairing’ mode. This is usually done by holding a setup button for a few seconds on each device until a blue or white LED starts flashing. You will usually have a window of about 1–2 minutes for the devices to find each other and automatically pair up.

What is a Digital Footprint and How Can I See Mine?
Your digital footprint is all the information about yourself you have shared, knowingly or unknowingly, on the internet. It can include your web browsing history, social media posts, photos uploaded to various websites, online forum comments, emails sent and received, as well as location sharing on mobile apps. With the countless number of internet sites a person accesses in a day, you don’t leave a single traceable set of footprints that can be easily ’seen’ or tracked. If you feel you want to limit the amount of personal data you leave on the internet, try using a Virtual Private Network (VPN).
My Teen Has Asked for a Gaming PC. What Features Should I Consider?
The first thing to consider before buying a gaming PC is the type of games your child is interested in. First, consider what components of the gaming PC, such as RAM (memory) and the processor (speed), will be needed according to the type of games your teen is interested in. The most important component for visually detailed games is the graphics card, as it determines the ‘frames per second’ (FPS) rate, or how ‘smooth’ the game plays. The higher the FPS, the better the experience.
